Description
Celestine Rumenerangabo started farming in this region in 1976, was integral in helping to rebuild the region after the genocide in 1994 and now has 2 different washing stations in Western Rwanda. He and his family are committed to raising the standard of living for coffee growing and producing families through focus on quality, innovative processing techniques and direct trade. This washing station, located near Lake Kivu, employs almost 300 women and collects coffees from 1650 local coffee farmers from the Nyamasheke region. The cherries are dried on raised beds for 25-30 days before depulping and hand sorting. Coffees processed in this way shows increased depth and body within the cup and bold fruit character. This is a great example of a natural showing a full body, lots of fruit and some spice notes. We recommend this as a pourover, cold brew or a really special batch brew. |
